Despite having a large budget, this program did the storyline no favors. It was so ridiculously stupid that I can’t believe I endured a whole season (there were 18 episodes in all, and they lasted about an hour and a half each) only to have a major cliffhanger and have a raspberry thrown in my face.
If you’ve watched that program, The Shannara Chronicles, Lord of the Rings, or even Games of Thrones, it had the mythology, the animals, and the appearance of those more famous works. However, the narrative was enmeshed in its own mythology from the beginning and concerned with establishing a complex system of politics, tribes, guilds, alliances, betrayals, and—most importantly—religions. There were what felt like 20 separate tribes.
